Cameron Titus might seem like a pretty typical 10 year old. He likes to draw, play video games, read, play outside with friends, and spend time with his family. He's also proven that his mom wasn’t exaggerating when she told people he was truly special. Cameron has written — and published — a children’s book, and he’s donating all his royalties to charity.

The book, "Cameron’s A-Z," will benefit Habitat for Humanity, a charity Cameron chose from a list after being moved to help those affected by the tornadoes in Joplin, Mo. and western Massachusetts. “I saw some videos on YouTube,” Cameron said, explaining that he’d seen a first-person account and a video of the aftermath, “and I have family in Missouri. They weren’t hit by the tornadoes, but it could’ve happened to them.”

Cameron wanted to help, which didn’t surprise his family in the least. “All his life, he’s been really charitable,” his mother, Julie, said. “It’s just who he is.” And so, when Cameron set his sights on writing a children’s book, Julie put her concerns about having her son enter such a competitive industry aside and stepped in to lend a hand.

“All I did was put a blurb on Facebook, and G.R. Holton — our book designer and illustrator — really kind of took over for us,” Julie explained. Cameron wasn’t thrilled with his own designs, and Holton, impressed with Cameron’s initiative and generosity, offered his expertise by illustrating the book and putting the Tituses in touch with his publisher, World Castle Publishing.
