6 YEAR OLD GIRL MAKES RECORD HOLE IN ONE

Reagan Kennedy didn’t jump up and down or scream. The 6-year-old from Bloomington let her father and sister do that after her tee shot on the third hole at The Links at Ireland Grove last week rolled into the cup for a hole in one.

“She turned around and walked back to the cart,” said Steve Kennedy.

Reagan Kennedy, who turns 7 in November, became the youngest girls golfer to record an ace since The Links opened in 2006, said course manager Jeff Hunt. There was a good reason for Reagan’s ho-hum reaction after holing the 85-yard shot with a 4-hybrid on July 6.

She remembered her mother, Erin, and father instructing her numerous times not to make a lot of noise on the golf course.

“We told her this is one time you can scream,” said sister Cheyenne Broquard, 13. “It didn’t hit her until the seventh hole and she said I’m going to get another one. We said ‘OK, hot shot.’”

Reagan, who will be a first-grader at Epiphany School in Normal, said the best thing about golf is “I get to do it with my dad.” Erin Kennedy said her husband starting to put a club in Reagan’s hands when she was 2.

Reagan has played in a couple of tournaments the last two years, finishing third last month in the girls 6-7 division of the Country Youth Classic by shooting 52 and 51 at The Links.

“It is something we can do as a family,” said Steve Kennedy. “Each year she gets better and better. After the Country Youth Classic we came out a few times and she’s shot better scores.”

Cheyenne Broquard isn’t afraid to brag about her sister. “She’s really good,” said Cheyenne. (more)
