APPLE KICKS OFF ITS LONG AWAITED WWDC 2011 NEXT MONDAY

Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software - Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

Jobs has been on health leave since the start of the year. The statement issued Tuesday by Apple did not indicate whether his status had officially changed.

An Apple representative could not be reached for immediate comment.

Apple, which typically unveils few of its product plans before their actual launch announcements, said Tuesday that Jobs’s keynote will feature the latest update to the company’s iOS mobile operating system, dubbed iOS5, as well as Lion — the eighth release of its Mac OSX operating system. (more)
