IN DC THE AFRICAN-AMERCIAN CIVIL WAR MUSEUM IS FINALLY RE-OPENED

We encourage all of you to visit and experience the now bigger and better African-American Civil War Museum re-opening in Washington D.C. Monday.

On July 18, the museum will celebrate the grand opening of its new and permanent site that will allot more space for its exhibits and programs.

The original museum location had just 700 square feet. After nearly $5 million in renovations however, the new location now has around 5,000 square feet of space.

The site will commemorate the contributions Black soldiers gave in the Civil War. From 2011 to 2015 the museum plans to sponsor a series of programs on the American Civil War “from the start of the war; emancipation; to the end of the war; and post war situations of the newly freed slaves.” (more)
