WONDER BREAD NAMES CHRISTOPHER BATTLE "WONDER DAD OF THE YEAR"

As a part of its Father’s Day promotion, the national brand Wonder Bread has chosenChristopher Battle of Ypsilanti as “Wonder Dad of the Year.”

“Wonder Dad of the Year” is a part of the company’s 90th anniversary celebration, in which it recognizes America’s everyday heroes. The company has and will be selecting people through nominations to feature them on the packaging of its limited-edition products on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.

Battle was recognized when one of his former employees nominated him. He was chosen among hundreds of nominees, according to his wife, Donna Battle, who believes that he was nominated because of their foster children.

“We’ve had several specialized foster children, and (Christopher) has never given up on them when others have. He always has hope and sticks by them,” Battle said.

The couple was first contacted in April and informed that they have won a trip to New York City. “We first didn’t believe it,” Battle said, “until a car pulled up in front of our house to take us to the airport.” (more)
